 On the occasion of celebrating the Human Rights Day The association PRAVO LJUDSKI, Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies (CIPS), ACIPS and the Human Rights Center Have the pleasure to invite you to the screening of the documentary film „ The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo, Lisa Jackson / USA / 2007 / 76' “. We also presenting to the public an exhibition of photos submitted to the 2008 and 2009 editions of the project ZOOM RIGHTS implemented by the association PRAVO LJUDSKI. The authors of these photos are the youth from through out Bosnia and Herzegovina and the exhibition presents the perception of youth regarding the system, protection and violation of human rights.

 The new UNDP National Human Development Report (NHDR) in BiH was presented in Sarajevo at the Rectorate of University of Sarajevo. The 2009 NHDR places social trust within broader conceptual framework of social capital. It investigates the various dimensions of social networks and explores, in-depth, the low levels of trust. The aim is to improve the understanding of the ties that bind members of society together in BiH - such as informal family and local neighbourhood relations and formal associations, clubs and organisations.

 Spanish Society for International Human Rights Law, the Association Alumni of the Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies (ACIPS), and the International Association of Peace Messenger Cities, with the support of the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights in BiH and the regional government of Catalonia are organizing the „Balkan regional expert meeting on the human rights to peace" which will be held on 30th October at the premises of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 President of ACIPS, Sanel Huskić, gave yesterday a lecture to the master studies students of the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo. The lecture held was on the Civil society subject, and focused on the role of public policy in the process of democratization. During the presentation, Huskić commented on current political situation in BiH, and various forms of citizen participation in decision-making process. Students continuing their education, in the fields of Democracy, Human Rights and Local self-governance, showed great interest in the aforementioned lecture. |

 At the invitation of the NGO Council, the president of ACIPS, Sanel Huskic, gave a presentation on the topic Progress Report by the Delegation of European Commission. In addition to Mr. Huskić panelists, at the panel Strengthening of the NGO Council, were Ms. Alida Vračić from Populari, and Ms. Lara Scarpitta from the Delegation of European Commission in BiH. The event was held at the premises of the Delegation of European Commission. |

Učešće organizacija civilnog društva u procesima donošenja odluka na državnom nivou u Bosni i Hercegovini je i dalje sporadično, nedovoljno i ad hoc. Postojeći institucionalni okviri za saradnju i razvijanje partnerskih odnosa između vladinog sektora i civilnog društva poput Pravila za konsultacije u izradi pravnih propisa (u daljem tesktu: Pravila) i Sporazuma saradnji Vijeća ministara BiH sa nevladinim sektorom u BiH još uvijek nisu zaživjeli u praksi. Razlozi za to su višestruki, a treba ih tražiti i na strani državnih ministarstava zaduženih za primjenu Pravila, ali i kod dijela civilnog društva.
This year, in July, Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton said that the U.S. will invest $15 million into preserving the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp, pending Congressional approval. The Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation’s mission is to preserve the concentration camp and has been seeking money. The camp is deteriorating as a result of it being built as a temporary place and without proper funding the camp cannot be sustained. So why spend millions of dollars during an economically challenging time? Why not let the camp go under after decades since the end of the war? Why keep reminding people and holding onto the past?
